What is T5?

The different names for Tier 5 role-play: Assassin's T5, Five Lines Five Words.

T5 is often used in Gor-related RP's in reference to legit kills, and has to do with the number of lines, plus the number of words per line. T5 states that a legit kill is, if you post 5 separate lines of (at least) 5 words each without being interrupted by a dodge or a counterstrike, ergo making it a legit kill. At any point in turn, the one being T5'ed must post a 5-word dodge before the 5th post drops. The 5 lines of post do not have to be consecutive, though, and sneaking around the posts of others is allowed. Still, a specific set of actions must be done prior to the kill.

There must be:
  • statement of intent
  • withdrawing of weapon
  • approach to intended victim
  • action of intended attack
  • statement of death.

Example:

*I look at Tim with intent to kill*
*I quickly palm my knife*
*Quietly, I walk up behind Tim*
*I aim the blade across his throat*
*As he dies, I drop him to the ground*

At any point in time prior to the last line, Tim could post a five-word dodge and avoid death.

Counter-attacking:

Let's try if we can change the roles. We take Tim's place. Let's call ourself from just now 'Ninja'.

The first condition to counter the attack is to reply before the fifth line. So as soon as we notice, that Ninja is attacking us, we type a reply.

*Ninja looks at Tim with intent to kill*
*He quickly palms his knife*
*Tim swiftly backs off.*
*Quietly, he walks up behind Tim*
*He aims the blade across his throat*
*As Tim dies, Ninja drops him to the ground*

WRONG ! Your enemy, if he notices you're wrong, just types on his next sentences, and you are still dead.
Why? Because TIER FIVE for a reason refers to the number of words and sentences. You should write a 5-word counter to his move. Your four words don't suffice.

Let's try again then?

*Ninja looks at Tim with intent to kill*
*He quickly palms his knife*
*Tim backs off, drawing his sword.*
*Quietly, he walks up behind Tim*
*He aims the blade across his throat*
*As Tim dies, Ninja drops him to the ground*

*Ninja looks at Tim with intent to kill*
*He quickly palms his knife*
*Quietly, he walks up behind Tim*
*He aims the blade across his throat*
*Tim jumps away from the blade.*
*As Tim dies, Ninja drops him to the ground*

Those replies are both legit. They contain 6 words (more than 5, even!) and are both posted before the last post of Ninja.

If the enemy notices you were able to counter his attack, he won't change the rest of his five lines, but do another attempt. Same goes for you, if you notice that they were able to counter your attampt to kill.

A few tricks:

Check on beforehand if Assassins' T5 is an allowed style where you want to role-play! After all, some places have role-play restrictions to certain styles. If you drop T5 where it is restricted, your attack will be voided and your victim will still be alive, thus having your purpose of assassination fail: killing a victim before they really notice it.

As there is no maximum limit on the number of words of each post, the person performing the act of assassination can disguise the post as a post of any form of role-play, even up to multi-paragraph posts. If you type a long post for the first and second line, then to drop the last three lines shortly after each other, your intended victim will have less time to respond. After all, they might realize a little bit too late that T5 was being used.
